Finally!

For the past month or so I haven’t felt right. You know how you can tell when things aren’t right but you think, “It’s not that bad, I can get through this and figure it out? I don’t need rest? Just need a lot of vitamins’?” I couldn’t seem to kick it. No matter what I did, it just kept creeping up on me. Today I made a self diagnosis. It isn’t that serious, and I am pretty sure treatment will work. It is really hard to say this, but I am 95% sure that I have jazzfestivitis. It is pretty common down here in the Big Easy about this time of year. Some how one person catches it and it just hops from person to person like a wildfire. I have heard that it can hibernate in a few people for almost a year. It tends to get more active right after Mardi Gras, when it unleashes itself on the unsuspecting. I started to feel a bit better after this morning, I sat down with these cubes and started planning out my treatment. It is 3 days on the treatment, 4 days off (very little needed then maybe a small dose or two) then 3 days on again. I hear the best way to really kick the jazzfestivitis in the ass is almost right away on that first day of treatment, to consume something called crawfish bread. Best taken with a can of Miller Lite. This is the most common liquid that is recommended. I think there are a few others, but the choice is pretty limited. I will let you all know how treatment goes in the next few days. I am going to start it on Friday. Wish me luck!

Just Stick a Fork in Me

Getting older really sucks. Three years ago, this would not have been a problem. Maybe it is the fact that I am not getting older, but could be that I know more people now than I did then? I am not sure, but I am in a happy exhausted state right now. You know how you pick up a biography on some celebrity or famous person and they are recalling what happened to them when they were still in the womb like it was yesterday? I don’t remember what I wore yesterday. Do all these people have photographic memories? Or is mine like a sieve? I do recall the following bits of information; they are going to come at you in a bullet style, only because that is as much as my brain can handle at this time. I really do love this time of year.

French Quarter Fest was an amazing time of music and friends. Of course of drink.
Favorite set on Friday was John Boutte, Paul Sanchez and Friends
Favorite set on Saturday was New Orleans Helsinki Connection
Favorite set on Sunday was Bonerama. What I remember, it was such a flurry of activity at the merch table that I couldn’t tell you what songs they played or for how long.
I have some pretty awesome friends.
Hoochie Mama Voodoo Pleasure Lounge is the place to be.
Rain doesn’t stop anyone during FQF
I am excited beyond excited for my friends to arrive in town today!!
Tomorrow is the wedding for two of my dear, dear, dear friends.
Friday is the Bonerama cd release party.

And the number one reason that makes me happy right now?? My sister could potentially go into labor at any time. She is starting in on that last 3 weeks, however with the news yesterday? That little girl may make an early appearance and maybe her mom can take note. HA!!!!!!

Music Galore

Last night, Wednesday in the Square. Cowboy Mouth up on stage. I heard the music, it went by in such a blur however I still don’t know if I was really there. I was on one of the Abita Light taps. I killed 4 kegs on my own. It was pour, set on table while the other another is pouring. When I finally got a second to look at my watch? It was 10 after 7. We had 20 minutes left to serve and the line was STILL insane. In all we killed 41 kegs. It was a perfect spring evening here in the Big Easy. It can’t get any better than that!

I just have to make it through the work day today then it is 3 day weekend time for me again, as it is the best festival down here in NOLA. (don’t get me wrong, I have a FANTASTIC time at Jazz Fest) however French Quarter Fest? It is the best. Free music for 3 days straight, about 99.9% local bands, there are a few bands from overseas. No big names thrown in. It is going to be so much fun! I am going to start the day out right starting with the 2nd line.

Red Bull is starting to stack up in my fridge. It has begun!

Don't feel like postin..postin...

I really have nothing to say right now, can't post at work anymore since they have blocked items. Instead here are some photos that were taken back at the beganning of March. I really liked how they turned out. Taken without a flash, camera sitting on the bar. I couldn't tell you what band was playing in the other room, we sat up front by the door, playing the photo hunt game that they had up there.

My fav bartendar, Jeff taking a rare Friday night breather behind the bar
Few people chilling out waiting for a cold one:
Neon Lights outside: Maple Leaf is open
We ruled at photohunt:

Happy Easter!

I hope that no matter what you celebrate, or don't celebrate that it is good day. I am laying in bed right now, just having had a large breakfast that my housemate and her parents made before going to church. I am exhuasted, it was a long great night of music. Bonerama played at the Maple Leaf in the first time in what seems to be forever. It was an interesting night overall. The music wasn't the normal "Bonerama" but there were a ton of musicians sitting in. I am going to rest up before the craziness of the springime in NOLA. Even though it is FREEZING COLD and we had to turn the heat back on. There was sleet several times yesterday.....yeah spring my ass.

Mush-Mush!

I think it is Wednesday. It is right? My brain and body is telling me it is Thursday however. We, like many others have a short work week. Due to Good Friday, we have it off. I apparently on the other hand, thought that it was Friday last night, so I went to the Leaf and saw Rebirth play their standing Tuesday night gig. In the few years I have lived here? That was the first time I saw them play at the Leaf. I didn't make it through the first set, but I did hear a few tunes, saw some friends. Most suprised to see us out on a "school night"

Tonight is the start of the Wednesday in the Square concert series. I am looking forward to once again volunteering at the beer booth. And of course drinking some of that fine cold Abita beer!! You know it is spring when the concert series begins!! Bring on the music!!

Spoke too Soon

One day I will learn not to say things too soon. This is going to be a lesson for me. Things kinda went downhill yesterday. Not so much that it is going to be hard to climb back up, but enough to put a damper on my good mood. Now I just have to shake this funk. I was hoping the weather could help, some nice sunshine, the warmth. However it is overcast right now. Overcast and warm.

I have also decided to sell my car. Seriously. I can not afford to put it in working order, nor can I afford upkeep, insurance, and everything else. I am going to sell it for scrape or if anyone wants to work on it themselves. I will obviously lose money on it, but at this point? It is going to be in my best interest to do this. I really want to have a car, to have freedom to go places when I want and not depend on other people, but right now that is not an option. Anyone want to buy a big hunk of metal?

Starting it out right

My sockets are finally feeling better. So much better that I am able to eat solid food a bit better now. This is a good thing. I don't have to feel like I am gumming my food anyore. This month has definetly started out a good foot. I had a fantastic weekend just FILLED will fantastic music. Also spending time with some good friends, some friends I haven't seen in awhile, and new friends. Friday night we saw thePaul Sanchez. Sitting in with him was Susan Cowsill also got up and sang a few songs. Good times were had by all.

I know this month is going to FLY by there is SO.MUCH. going on. This week Kristen's parents are visiting. The music that is happening this weekend is out of control (New Orleans Nightcrawlers, Bonerama, Paul Sanchez) the following weekend it is all about French Quarter Fest, the week after that some dear friends get married, a bunch of friends will be in town, and it is Bonerama's cd release party, the next two weekends after that it is Jazz Fest. It will make for the waiting for my niece's arrival so much easier. For me at least. ;) I really don't think my sister will agree with that. Also at this point I am waiting anxiously to hear when baby Perrine is going to make his appearance. I am thinking today.
