Ramble On……

I haven’t had much to say, nor the time to say it. I don’t know if I can put words into cohesive thoughts even now. I am going to give it a shot. Last week I started to feel ill. I stayed home Friday day to get some rest. That evening I went out to help celebrate my wonderful friend, Katja’s birthday. It was a wonderful evening. I was up early and out the door to spend the entire day at Voodoo Fest. I do mean the entire day. We got there to see one of the first bands. We left during the Red Hot Chili Peppers encore. I had time to race home, scrub my muddy feet (more later on the whole fest experience) change clothes and run out the door to the Maple Leaf. I knew I was going to be okay since the Meters were sitting in with the Chili Peppers. Since George Porter Jr. is part of the Meters, I knew chances of Porter, Batiste and Stoltz starting “on time” was slim. As it was, they started at around 12. We dealt with the time change that night as well. I think it was 5 (now really 4) by the time I collapsed in bed. Sunday, I was back out at the Park for another full day of music. It was a great ending however; I was onstage dancing with Cowboy Mouth right behind Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, James Andrews and Big Sam. It was pretty freakin cool. Yesterday, I couldn’t move. I slept all day. Today, I am at work however the cold that has been raging to break free is finally doing so. I thought alcohol would kill it, but it didn’t. Tonight we have a pumpkin to carve, and trick o treaters to enjoy. Have a Happy Halloween!!

Feel Like a Champ?

Yesterday afternoon after work, I decided to walk home. I work in the area of Lee Circle so I walked all the way down St. Charles to Carrollton to home. It was 5.9 miles. I thought it was going to take me 2.5 hours but only took me an hour and 50 mins. I hauled ass. I was so proud of myself. Of course I was totally wiped out for the rest of the evening and it was all I could do to keep my eyes open during Lost. I did actually fall asleep right after it was over. I woke up an hour later with an ear ache. This morning, getting out of bed was the hugest chore. Now? I am dizzy, felt so nauseous that I almost threw up. I actually got up to go and do that and felt better just by standing and walking that I didn't. (no you crazies I am not pregnant. You have to have sex for that to happen, and that ain't happenin.) My sinuses started bugging me yesterday morning so I think its because of that. I should feel awesome after my walk right???

Why Mark Mullins Will One Day Rule the World ~ Part 5

Last night I was snuggled up on the couch, in my sweats, watching the "Break Up" (funny movie check it out) when I got a call from Mr. Mullins. "Did you know we were playing tonight??" I thought of 2 things immediatly. He was shittin me....and that it was 11:30 PM. Turns out it was neither. There was a suprise gig last night at the Howling Wolf. It was free admission and free 5 Miller beer and a suprise headliner. In fact all the bands were suprises. When I got there Soul Rebels were onstage. Soon after Bonerama took the stage. Their special guest from a few weeks ago showed up again, Tony Clifton. He did his one song (which is freakin stuck in my head, nice arrangement though) and the guys rocked the crowd. I really don't know how many of them had heard of Bonerama before, but they really won the crowd over. Matt really got into and climbed onto the speakers with his sousaphone. The crowd was trying to figure out who this next/last band would be. It turned out to be North Mississippi Allstars. I didn't stay long into their set....but they sounded pretty good.

All in all it was a pleasant evening. I know I had fun. So thanks for letting me know Mr. Mullins. ;)

#65 Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas ~ James Patterson

One of those days

For the past 8 days I have been doing this special "diet". I know the fad diets don't really work and once you are done...the weight comes back on. So I am not really looking at this one as a diet, just a change in eating habits. It cuts out all carbs and sweets. For breakfast I have 2 eggs and 2 slices of bacon. I am usually running late so I make my breakfast here at work, crack open the eggs in a coffee mug, zap them for a minute, stir em, and then zap them again for a minute. No salt/pepper, no butter. I also have 6 oz of grapefruit juice (unsweetened). For lunch I have the 6 oz of grapefruit juice, a salad and a meat. Usually chicken. For dinner it is a green or red vegtable and again a meat and again the 6 oz of grapefruit juice. You can cook these things anyway. Use what ever dressing, butter, salt/pepper. I usually don't add much...especially to the veggies. If I do add any seasoning it is to the meat and is usually some Tony's or some blackened seasonings. (all the meat is cooked on a George Foreman grill) You shouldn't be drinking sodas, and if you do they should be diet and caffine free. I still have my cup of coffee each morning. For a bedtime snack they suggest skim milk or tomato juices. I haven't had a need for any of that. I find that I am not that hungry in between meals at all. You do this meal plan for 12 days, then for 2 days have whatever, then go back on for 12 days. I have found that I am not craving the snacks as much. There are a few times, I have of course, but then I think "its just 12 days I can go that long without a potato chip" I do have to say I am really looking forward to having a slice of pizza in a few days. ;) But other than that? I don't have many cravings. My calorie intake has been cut down about 200 calories a day...I am keeping the intake between 1200 and just over 1500 now. However? I don't seem to be losing the weight. Yeah in the past week I think I have lost 4 lbs. Today? I feel like I am a giant and I haven't lost any at all. Since I have been doing a healthier lifestyle I have lost 15 lbs. My clothes still fit the same however. That I don't get. We did a great work out yesterday that included some jogging. We really go our heart rates up. Hopefully we will be able to do more today. It is a slow process and I am such an impatient person. I want to see results RIGHT NOW!! ;)

On a totally unrelated note....my sister heard the baby's heartbeat yesterday for the first time!! :) :) :)

Drawback

A couple weeks ago our downstairs neighbors told my roommate that their older dog had lead poisoning. They were having there son tested, and that they would let us know the results. Friday night as Kristen and I headed out for the evening we ran into our neighbors, they said their son had tested with high levels of lead in his blood. They were both going to get tested and let us know their results. They were also going to have some health inspectors to come out and do some testing.

Earlier this summer.....our house had been sanded and re-painted. This could be one possiblity for the occurance of lead dust....it could be coming from another source, like the house they are renevating. I have for now decided to take a wait and see approach. To see what the inspectors say, or if our neighbors come back and say they have high levels as well. Maybe both. This could suck.

One of us had to grow up

I started my weekend off last night. I headed out to the Maple Leaf to catch the Trio. Last night that consisted of Mark Mullins, Kevin O'day, and Mike Lemmler. They played a little Nirvana, a little Folsom Prison, some Bonerama stuff as well as a rare treat for Mulebone fans, "Heaven's Moon" I got to hang out with some cool people that I have gotten to know from the Bonerama gigs, got some sweet drink deals from my fav bartender at the Leaf, just in general had a great time.

All the while my sister was at home in Phoenix all snug in bed....getting some much needed sleep. She is going to be needing her sleep right now because after May 8th? She won't be getting much for awhile. That is because after that day, she will be a full time mommy!! :) That is right, she is expecting. Right now she is about 11 weeks. She should find out in the next few weeks if she will be having my niece or my nephew. That seems a little weird to me, going to be an aunt. I am so excited and estatic and happy for her and Scott. I know they will be good parents, and I know that baby is going to be soooo spoiled by both my parents, Scott's parents, Scott's sister and myself. Wow...where did the time go??? It kinda seemed like yesterday that we were fighting like cats and dogs (oh the stories that we have) and now she is going to be a mommy. I am so proud.

Project Runway

I was pleased with the outcome. At the beginning of the show, I had said to Kristen, "It is going to come down to Jeffery and Uli" and I was right. I think Jeffery deserved to win. He showed tremendous growth. Especially with his last few designs and his collection. Uli's was beautiful, but very much the same as always only real difference I saw? The lack of the crazy prints. I love Michael...and had from the beginning but his collection?? I did not like AT ALL. There may have been one piece I liked and that was that. Laura's? Yeah....not really liking either. I would totally wear pieces from either Jeffery or Uli. If my fat ass would fit in them of course! ;) Oh and apparently Michael is dating Brandy now. You know...the singer?? That is kinda cute. I think Jeffery, Uli and Michael will have great careers. I just don't see Laura going on much further. Especially after that one challenge when she was pretty much questioning if she wanted to do it anymore.

Signs not everyone is okay here

I just read this and almost got sick. It is just mind boggling. Horrendous.

Man dismembers girlfriend in Quarter; cooks body partsA suicide note in the pocket of a man who jumped off the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel late Tuesday led police to the grisly scene of his girlfriend’s murder, where they found her charred head in a pot on the stove, her legs and feet baked in the oven and the rest of her dismembered body in trash bag in the refrigerator, according to police and the couple’s landlord. The man, Zackery Bowen, a tall man in his mid 20s with long blond hair, claimed in the note to have killed his girlfriend, Adrian “Addie” Hall, on Oct. 5, according to police. Hall was also in her mid 20s. In the five-page note, Bowen claimed he strangled Hall in the bathtub, then dismembered her body before taking it in pieces to the kitchen, police said. An autopsy conducted today shows that Hall was in fact manually strangled, police said. It also appears that Hall’s body was cut up after she died, police said. “He appeared to clean up the bathroom a lot after he did it,” one officer said. Police found the victim’s head burned beyond recognition in a pot on top of the stove, and her legs and feet in the same condition in pans inside the oven, police said. Bowen was from Los Angeles, but apparently had lived in the New Orleans area for quite a while, police said. Detectives said they were compiling a detailed profile of Bowen to submit as soon as possible to the FBI’s VICAP (Violent Criminal Apprehension Program) center. VICAP is a nationwide data information center designed to collect acts of violence that might be serial in nature and recognized by other jurisdictions with access to VICAP as similar to a crime that they investigated. Shortly after Oct. 1, the couple had rented an apartment together at 826 N. Rampart Street above a voodoo shop, said their landlord, Leo Watermeier, who recently ran a campaign for mayor. The couple seemed happy, he said. “He may have in retrospect seemed a little troubled,” Watermeier said in an interview early Wednesday morning, shortly after he led investigators to the gruesome scene inside the apartment. Though they appeared happy when they rented the place — telling Watermeier they had fallen in love on the night Hurricane Katrina struck and Hall gave Bowen shelter — they soon had a bitter falling out, Watermeier said. On Oct. 3, during a dispute over which of their names would appear on the lease, Hall told Watermeier she intended to kick Bowen out of the apartment after finding out that he had cheated on her, Watermeier said. Bowen did not take the news well, he said. “He said, ‘Did you just let her sign a lease alone? Because I’m screwed. I’m totally messed up now. She’s trying to kick me out of our apartment,” Watermeier said. Hall admitted she was trying to throw Bowen out, he said. “I caught him cheating on me, and I am kicking him out of this apartment,” she told Watermeier. Watermeier told the couple to work through their differences and get back to him. He never saw Hall again, and assumed they’d worked it out. Police came to Watermeier’s door about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, shortly after Bowen committed suicide, asking if he knew a tall man with long blonde hair, and if he had a connection with the apartment at 826 N. Rampart St. He took them to the apartment, he said, where they warned him he might not want to enter. Investigators told Watermeier what they found, however: charred body parts strewn about the kitchen. Hall was also not from New Orleans, Watermeier said, but both she and Bowen seemed “hard core” about the city and proud that they had stayed here through Katrina. Bowen’s suicide was first discovered Tuesday when his body was spotted below by someone in an upper floor lounge. It was soon determined that Bowen had jumped from an outside terrace near a swimming pool on an upper floor to the roof of the Chartres Street garage on the second floor, police said. A surveillance camera showed him walking several times to the edge of a ledge on the upper floor, then retreating, then returning again, until he finally plunged, police said. Police found the five-page suicide note in his pocket, which not only led him to the scene of the murder, but included information on an out-of-state person who should be contacted after he was found, police said.

A Holy Terror?

At the end of August a new kitty moved into our household. He looks a lot like my lil Liza Jane, however he does not have the white belly or the chest. Actually, he has a few white hairs there. He is about a year old now, and this was his first experience with other kitties. Liza Jane and Maxwell get along just fine. As a matter of fact we often say they are boyfriend and girlfriend. It always takes a few days or weeks for the kitties to all get aquintated. It seems to be taking a lot longer for Liza and Fritz (or as I call him Fritzel Ditzel) to become friends. There have been a few loud fights, but even those seem to coming to a halt. I have even caught Liza bathing Fritz on occasion.

Over the weekend, Fritz's mama was out of town. I noticed at one point that his neck appeared swollen, however I didn't investigate it that much. I thought I was imaging things. On Monday, Fritz's neck was all wet. We were trying to figure out if Liza had given him a good bath, or if even Maxwell had. Perhaps he fell in some water. His mama cleaned him up just in case. (who knows what he could have gotten into)

Yesterday, there was a new development. There is a section of fur gone in that area under his neck. You wouldn't notice it unless you look, however it is still a large section gone. And in the middle of that? A big old hole. It could be a puncture wound. That is what we are thinking it is. Most likely from my kitty!! Now Max and Fritz have fought, but it is mainly my cat and Fritz that get into it. I caught her trying to lick that area on him yesterday, which could explain the fur gone in that area now. Fritz is acting completely fine, playing, running, eating, purring. He is going to the vet today to have it checked out. I can't believe my baby would do that!! They were loving up on each other most of yesterday, so hopefully this is a one time thing.

Liza has had her share of war wounds as well, from another cat. I guess she just got really pissed at Fritz.

Rock Star

Guess who is in town to help with the rebuilding process??? Guess who found out about AWK through Paul Sanchez and came and helped out on a house yesterday?? Hootie and the Blowfish!!! I went out there yesterday afternoon after a couple hours of work and helped out. They were all very sweet, and some kick ass workers. Craig was the only other AWK'er out there, and there was about 20 of them. The house still had furniture, by the time I got there? Most of the walls had been knocked down. There were a two bathrooms and the ceiling still to come down, a few other items...They were crazy!! I totally shovelled installation with Darius Rucker!!

Where does time go?

This weekend went zooming past and I felt as though I had barely anytime to breath let alone sleep. I did find time for both however. It all started on Thursday. For the first time since the thing, I went out to Preservation Hall. It is not back open every day, I believe just Thursday-Saturday, possibly Sunday. If you have never heard of Preservation Hall it is one of THE best places to hear live music. That is all there is….just some benches and the music. No food, no drinks. I took in a set and a few songs….the place was packed, however I have seen it even more crowded. I then ran up to Palm Court which just re-opened after being closed over the summer. Some places do that here, since the summer it isn’t that busy with tourists. I ended up hanging out with some friends way to late that night. At some point in the evening I had decided “I am going to be tired tomorrow, so one more drink won’t hurt”, it really didn’t. Friday after work we ran down to the Quarter so I could pick up my BTE tickets. I decided I had too much other things going on and sold the ticket for Friday. We then had dinner and then headed to the BEST new club in New Orleans, Chickie Wah Wah. Dale the owner has to be one of the hardest working bar owners, and the nicest. Bonerama had a great set there, with a special guest. I don’t want to say who it was until I can get my pictures uploaded. It was unique and interesting!! Saturday was a day of wrecking. It was a short day, but we got a lot done. Saturday night it was to the Maple Leaf for a little PBS. Yesterday I spent a majority of the day at Tipitina’s. Bonerama was playing/teaching kids! It was a very cool experience. Most of the guys with kids had them out there. There were several talented kids up there on that stage and it is was great to see their parents encouraging them! Tips rocks for bringing back this series. It is happening every Sunday afternoon….they bring in a new musical act/musician every week. Part of my time there was spent making sure Bert and Greg were updated on the Saint’s score, while keeping the information from Mullins as he was taping the game. I don’t think he found out till he watched the game that they won. I thought for sure one of his boys was going to tell him!! I spent the rest of the afternoon watching movies. Relaxing…..enjoying the rainy windy afternoon snuggled up on the couch with a kitty. Now onto a new week and new adventures.

Feelin Sorry

Last night was the first half of the finale for Project Runway. If you remember my guesses for the Top 3 were: Michael, Kayne, and Uli. So 2 of the 3 are still part of the finale. Michael's stuff that he is creating? NOT. LIKING.IT. I think I kept saying last night "what the hell??" I am hoping it looks better on the models. Uli's stuff looks very Uli. Laura's stuff? well Tim is right she is going to need to make it younger. (the bit with the turtle poop at Laura's place was some funny stuff) Jeffery's stuff? I actually liked. I haven't been a huge fan of Jeffery but the past few weeks I have wavered. I don't think he had any outside help and the rest of them just need to chill out. I mean Uli and Michael didn't have most of their pieces even STARTED when Tim did the home visits. Jeffery did. As did Laura. Jeffery doesn't have as big of a family (like Laura does), so I think he was working his ass off. Like he said last night it IS for Bryant Park. I mean come on....you can't go into there half assed. The previews for the last eppie kinda make it seem like Jeffery perhaps did have outside help, that he doesn't get to participate.

*******SPOILER AHEAD DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!*********

Seeing that I have seen some of the pics from the Bryant Park show (google it, its out there that is how I knew there would be 4 going instead of 3) you can see the pieces on the runway and that Jeffery did indeed show. So I don't know if when they showed the clip of him crying it was because they said he was innocent or that he could show but won't be in consideration for winning? I don't know. I am actually really hoping for innocent. Because that would suck otherwise. I do think with everything that he has been through? I don't think he would cheat. I felt so bad for him.

******End Spoiler*********

In totally unrelated news, I found out today that the Tower Records here in town (on Decatur in the Quarter) is closing. All Tower Records are. This really sucks because Virgin Records didn't re-open after the thing. This is probably going to be really good news for Louisiana Music Factory, they will hopefully get alot more business for the local music. For me? It kinda sucks. Tower is where I would go that was easy access to national music, movies, and magazines and books. Now? I am going to have to hitch a ride out to the *oh the horror* mall to get this kind of stuff. I like that Tower. Although I did tend to feel guilty going there, just to buy movies. I don't think LMF will be selling Scrubs on DVD.

Frustrations Galore

I know that it isn't right to blog about work. I mean, I don't want to get dooced. However for the second day in a row I am frustrated beyond belief. I used to answer phones here. In fact since moving to NOLA over 2 years ago, my job was answering phones. It almost felt like a step back, however I was just happy to have a job. Not long ago, the place I am at now, moved me off the phones. I moved up! Fantastic. I now only cover the phones every other week during the lunch break. And when the temp can't make it. Yesterday she couldn't make it. It didn't start that way however. It was that she was going to be late. Car acting up. Then it was they could't get the car part until 2. So she wasn't coming in. The guy I help out in the afternoon has been on vacation for the past week. About 55% of his workload lands on me now. Not to mention my morning duties. I can't do them from the front that well. Not to mention that my work hours changed, so I got here at 6:30 AM and instead of leaving at 3? I left at 4. Did I also mention that I didn't get a lunch break??? Yeah....the lady whose turn it is to cover the phones over lunch this week didn't bother to tell me that she had a funeral to go to. Which fine, I understand you have a funeral to go to...but you could at least have the decency to let me know so I can at least have a freakin bathroom break. I barely have touched my gigantic stack of work and I am told the temp is going to be late again and can I go and cover the phones until she gets here. How I am suppose to get anything done?? When I had car problems? I started to take the bus. You make do....you do what you have to get to work. It is frustrating. I better not get screwed over again.

Gettin Ready

This weekend consisited of sleeping, eating, cleaning house, hearing music and some more sleeping. Will the craziness ever stop?? I told myself that by resting yesterday I was getting prepared for this coming week. We have a houseguest coming to hang out/job search for a few weeks this coming Wed. On Thursday we are going to Preservation Hall, it will be a first time for me since the "thing". Friday I have tickets to go and see BTE and later that evening I am selling merch for Bonerama at a new club called Chickie Wah Wah. hehehehe that is such a fun name to say. Go ahead and say it a few times. Saturday I again have tickets to see BTE, Leroy is playing at d.b.a with John Boutte (fantastic sets this past weekend) and I am selling merch for Porter Batiste and Stoltz later on Saturday. See why I had to rest up this weekend?? It is going to be crazy busy!!

Election Campaign Slogan

Elect Stacey Morigeau!

I'll tell you what to do,bitch.
'What" will your campaign slogan be?' at QuizGalaxy.com

Musings

I have a few things...and since I am so "great" at forming one rational thought. (HA) I am doing this once again bullet style.

  • Yesterday afternoon I got a bug bite. I have no idea from what. It formed almost like a blister and itched like mad. Later in the evening, right next to the bite, a bruise formed. Not a purple and blue bruise, more like a black bruise. The blister like form is gone, rather its not as bubbly. It is still slightly raised and red. I wonder what the hell it was and if I should worry about it at all. It doesn't itch anymore, it's really not even bothering me. Other than being SERIOUSLY UGLY.
  • Project Runway last night was highly amusing. I had been looking forward to the reunion show. After hearing Jeffery talk about the Angela/Angela's mom situation? I don't feel that bad about it anymore. Not that he should have talked to her mom that way, however I wonder if ANY of the designers would have been nice to her, the way she was complaining. Now that I think about it? Jeffery totally didn't chose her but was stuck with her because everyone else got to chose first. They didn't want to get stuck with her. Like Laura said, Angela's mom gave Jeffery a hard time, when the other family members were all laid back and cool with what the designers were doing. I loved the Tim-isms, the word count on Kayne, Laura's serious ugly moments and that weird guy's laugh!! The guy that was kicked off? Still annoys me. OH OH and let's not forget Vincent's tirade over the laundered clothes!! Classic reality TV moment.
  • Lost. WHAT the hell?? That is pretty much on that.
  • I am really enjoying this not riding the bus in the morning. I don't have to deal with stinky perfume lady any more, getting harrassed in Lee Circle, being squished in the bus, waiting over 40 mins for a bus, oh the list could go on and on. So far in the afternoons riding the bus home has been quite pleasent! Maybe I shouldn't say that....I may have just jinxed it!
  • Walked again last night around the park. It is so nice here in the evenings, that the park is just FULL of people! It makes it a little intimidating to stop at the fitness stops because everyone STARES at you doing it. Like they didn't realize it was there!

50 Book Challenge

#62 California Girl~T. Jefferson Parker. A nice murder mystery book. I thought I had it figured out, and I did but the way he wrote the story had me second guessing right up to the end!

Ho Ho Ho...ten has got to go!

My roomies and I have decided to all lose a little weight before the holidays. My creative/teacher roomie made up little posters which are on the fridge. One for each of us. It has a candy cane on it and we can color a portion in each time we lose a pound. Her goal is to lose 10 lbs by the holiday. I would love to lose alot more.

Remember "Freshman 15?" yeah..we have "Katrina 15" or 20. or 50. Okay not that much but it sure as hell feels like that.

We have done so well the first 2 days of this week. We have walked in Audubon Park both days. 1.7 miles each day. We also stopped at every other fitness stop on Monday. Yesterday we hit the ones we didn't do on Monday. Between gutting the house on Saturday and then this? I can barely move my muscles. It is a great tension release however. Monday night I crashed hard. best night sleep I have had in months. However last night? It didn't happen as much. I fell asleep a little after 10. Woke up at midnight. At 2, at 4, at 4:30, when the alarm went off at 5, then I reset the alarm for 5:45. In the that time period? I woke up every 4 mins. I am going to be so AWESOME to be around later today! I can not fall asleep during Lost OR Project Runway tonight. Won't make me happy if I do!

Early Morning Riser

I haven't felt much like blogging lately. Nothing to say really. Last week sucked, this week its better. Although yesterday didn't start out great. I went out to the bus stop at 6:47. The bus leaves at 6:53. However, there wasn't a bus there. The clock kept ticking all the way to 7:27 when my bus finally rolled up. I am suppose to be to work at 7:30. How am I going to get across town in 3 minutes? I did not make it obviously. Neither did the 50 million people on the bus either. The driver had to go by several stops because the bus was THAT full. When the 3 busses ahead of you don't show up? That is going to happen. I didn't get to work until after 8. In the past two weeks I have lost 3 hours of work due to the busses not showing up when they are suppose to. When your hourly? It really hurts. Starting this morning, one of my co-workers picked me up. At 6:15. AM. I am now going to be working 6:30-3:00. That is until I can get my car up and running again.

Yes the car is still a piece of crap in the driveway. I am not about to pour the $$ to fix it when I still don't have the title, almost a year later. However I fear that the longer it sits? The worse condition it will be. Somethings just don't come easy do they?

There are some more good things coming up for my boys! I am very excited for them, this is some big time stuff!! :) If your a Cali person go to the gig on Saturday! They are at the Boom Boom Room in San Fran!! :) Say yo to Kristy!
